Cookie Cutter Ornaments

I came across this blog (Russian I think) that has some interesting ideas for creating ornaments using cutouts embossed with things found around the house. First use cookie cutters to cut out the shape and then, using other tools you might have, emboss textures, cut out designs and poke holes in the dough before it dries. If you don't have a cutter with a 'ruffled' edge as seen in the above photo, you could create effect by repeatedly taking a bite with a small Kemper-type cutter around edge of shape.

You'll have to use Google Translate or some other service if you want to read the text, but there's lots of photos to give you ideas. The artist is using salt dough but just about any air-dry clay would work as well, maybe better.  See blog here.
